Pinged PONG is a reinterpretation of the first video game, invented in the 1970s: Pong. This interactive experience invites two players to compete in a classic match. Through their game, each player activates a motor that moves a pen along an axis, following the vertical movements of their paddle. At the end of the match, a drawing emerges; in just a few lines, it recounts the key moments of the game.

The experience unfolds in two stages: a screen and an electromechanical machine. On the screen, Pong is displayed and players control their paddles using joysticks. Meanwhile, the machine is equipped with two motors driven by electronic circuits: one moves the writing tool along the horizontal axis, the other along the vertical axis. The players’ movements are thus transmitted to the machine in real time, which translates them into lines on paper.
This work makes visible what is usually invisible in a video game. In a typical match, attention often focuses on the score, victory, or defeat. Here, the experience highlights the path and the gestures that shape the encounter.
